They're not that complex if you understand CSS And let's face it… to understand the example code you only need understand what > + * do in CSS Using intrinsic sizing, and the sorts of approaches Andy Bell suggests reduces the volume of CSS enormously and can often get rid of media queries and huge numbers of selectors that get repeated across viewport sizes I'd really encourage you to watch this talk by Andy [this video]
Intrinsic sizing approach cuts CSS volume, media queries and selectors.

> I don't know how useful this is. The website that is the subject of this discussion comes from Andy Bell. I would encourage you to see his other work, e.g. Every Layout[1], and the website[2] linked to a recent talk he gave[3]. In particular the answer to your question can be found at 14:38[4] in the talk, perhaps more precisely the slide he shows at 14:59. [1] [link] [2] [link] [3] [this video] [4] [this video]
Andy Bell's talk answers the viewport question at 14:38.

I have been using this approach and happy with it. It’s similar I think? I just don’t need tailwind for the puny websites I cobble together. Andy Bell – Be the browser’s mentor, not its micromanager [this video] Btw. Great website and articles. Thank you for posting.
Similar approach to the commenter's own, without needing tailwind.
