Used as a running joke in discussions of programming by voice.

A 2007 video of someone trying to write Perl code using Windows Vista's speech recognition, with hilariously bad results.

“one of my favorite Youtube classics, the Windows Vista speach recognition” (HN, 2016)

on HN thread Programming by Voice: Staying Productive Without Harming Yourself
this is all I think of when I think about programming by voice: [this video] I remember laughing so hard the first time I saw this. (granted its from vista, and I know voice has come a long way since then) However I could see myself using voice commands that activate Macros or other actions. I just bought a Nexus9 and am going to try to use it for coding, I can definitely see potentially using voice commands to augment that workflow.

on HN thread Ask HN: Could voice commands make programming easier?
I imagine it might turn out something like [this video] - Which may not be the best. Coding using voice is incredibly tiresome and with the speed most programmers can type is unnecessary. However, saying that, if you have a voice to text engine that _works_, you could theoretically have some fun with different compiler settings. For example, saying "Go" to continue after breakpoints could be fun, meaning you can just lay back whilst trying to find the issues with your code.
