HN shares it as a mesmerizing example of building shelter and tools entirely from scratch.

The Primitive Technology channel shows the construction of a tiled roof hut in the bush using only primitive tools and materials made in earlier videos. It includes tiles, a kiln, clay walls and underfloor heating.

This guy's YouTube channel [0] features videos of him making stone tools, cutting down a tree, digging up clay, making a kiln, roof tiles and huts; all from scratch. His videos are a great watch, and even with heavy editing it's pretty clear how difficult it all must be. [0] [this video]

Don't know the source, but as far as 'watching other people working', here are two of my favorites: [link] [this video]

on HN thread How to build a house alone [video]
Impressive! Of course technically he’s building it not by himself but with the help of a lot of technology. ;) This man is building a house including the tools you need to build that house completely by himself: Primitive Technology: Tiled Roof Hut [this video]
Man builds house including its tools entirely himself.

Building a shack isn't that hard, see [this video] Try building it in the forest though - it is most likely illegal due to some rentier (or government) already owning it. I think the grandparent has some truth to their words. Existing outside the dwelling is illegal. Dwellings are owned by the elite rentier class, so you need some money just to exist (unless you are a rentier).
Example that building a shack is not hard.
