Years with an HN recommendation, 2007–2026
HN commenters cite it as a thoughtful mini-doc on reading time and frequency in the age of social media.
A short film by Max Joseph about his anxiety in bookstores and how to read more books amid constant streaming, social media and news. He looks for ways to rebalance his content diet in favor of reading.
“it's an interesting exploration of modern bookstores and the dynamics of reading as a pursuit in the age of social media” (HN, 2024)
Agreed. He is presenting the list as "too be finished by X date", which within itself sort of implies trying to do it quickly, or at least that he is taking time into account while reading. But it's not unreasonable that he make it through this list and enjoy everything. Half an hour a day really isn't much. Phenomenal and related mini-doc on the subject of reading time and frequency: [this video] I should also add, page count is very much so dependant on font size.
I know some might chafe at me recommending a Youtube video about reading, but I came across this one a few years ago, and it's an interesting exploration of modern bookstores and the dynamics of reading as a pursuit in the age of social media: [this video]
Explores modern bookstores and reading in the social media age
I know the topic won't probably be about this -and I'll be reading the article next-, just wanted to share that this title perfectly reminded me the feeling of attempting the speed reading technique explained in this old gem of a video (minute 20:15) BOOKSTORES: How to Read More Books in the Golden Age of Content [this video]
