Linked whenever Yellowstone or caldera unrest comes up, as the debunking of civilization-ending eruption fears.
Soup Emporium's deep dive argues that Yellowstone is not a ticking timebomb. It goes through uplift and subsidence, earthquakes and what the caldera really is, to rebut supervolcano doom claims.
Just so everyone knows, the whole "Yellowstone is a supervolcano that could erupt any minute and cause cataclysmic effects on the planet" is just not true. It was made up for TV "documentaries". Yellowstone does not pose any real threat to society at large. Volcanologists are practically unanimous in that belief. See this video for more information: [this video]
There is a video by Soup Emporium on Youtube that compares the uplift of the Yellowstone caldera to Campi Flegrei's. The video is queued up to where Campi Flegrei is discussed. [this video]
Compares Yellowstone caldera uplift to Campi Flegrei.
There is no real prospect of a "Yellowstone event": [this video] We could effectively geoengineer one by pumping things into the upper atmosphere ourselves, but there's a lot of questions about that and we have no idea if this would help more than it hurt.
