Commenters point to it as a compact, impressive demo of what the language can do.
Stephen Wolfram gives a 13-minute tour of the Wolfram Language, a symbolic, functional programming language with a built-in knowledgebase. He demos querying large datasets, interactivity and deployment.
This was no where near as painful as some talks I've seen, where the speaker is programming. Like running of time, and only being half way through the talk. Live coding definitely slows down the momentum. A good example of coding demos is Stephen Wolfram introducing the Wolfram language [1]. 12:55 minutes of pure ecstasy :D [1] [this video]
Exemplary short coding demo of the Wolfram language
For some background on the language, check out Stephen Wolfram's intro video: [this video] The demos are all pretty impressive, and putting aside the breathless marketing of the programming cloud page, this looks awesome.

> tl;dr: The Wolfram Language is an ok 30-year-old language I don't think it is just 'OK'. It is lispy, with a HEAVY emphasis on symbolic computation. I have yet to see anything even remotely similar to it. EDIT: There's also the visualization aspect. Things like Jupyter (formerly iPython) come close, but still can't do things like render video. If you don't want to read the article, there's this video: [this video] (initial ego trip skipped) (Another edit: fix typo)

A report from the International Language-Level Assessment Body. Seriously though, it doesn't seem too far-fetched a claim after seeing all the stuff demoed in the screencast they put out: [this video] Getting pedantic, I suppose there's a distinction between the language in isolation and with its stdlib/environment.
Screencast demoing many capabilities of the Wolfram Language
There's only so much we can do before those products are released. The Programming Cloud will go live in the next few weeks, along with executable examples on various language and marketing pages. For more information about the language, check out [link] , as well as [this video]
It's basically an attempt to bring the user interface of Mathematica or MATLAB (the "notebook") to the Python world. You can get an idea of what this is like in Mathematic by watching Wolfram's demo: [this video]
Shows what the Mathematica notebook interface is like
[this video] "Stephen™ Wolfram™'s Introduction to the Wolfram™ Language" That Wolfram™ Language and the Wolfram™ Cloud is going to change the world forever, the language is so great because its Wolfram™ Symbolic and since it all just runs in the Wolfram™ Cloud its really fast. You can put all your financial data in the Wolfram™ and do things. You know they worked 30 years on this, and it must be good because it runs in the Wolfram™ Cloud.
