Years with an HN recommendation, 2007–2026

In 2022 some HN commenters shared it for historical context on Ukraine, usually with caveats about its bias and accuracy.

A 2016 documentary by Igor Lopatonok that gives a historical perspective on Ukraine's divisions, the 2004 Orange Revolution and the 2014 Maidan uprising. It argues that Western media painted Russia as the sole perpetrator.

“it helped me understand better the historical context of what's at stake in Ukraine” (HN, 2022)

Yeah, it's really unfortunate someone flagged as dupe; it's definitely not the case. Related, for sure, but I think Prof. John Mearsheimer's video offers a deeper and richer context of what is happening in Ukraine, which complements Vox's "are we close to WW3 or not". (btw, doesn't HN has a "vouch" button for dupes, like on dead posts? Would be great to have an "undupe") Another interesting documentary is Oliver Stone's 2016 " Ukraine on Fire " [1]. Keep in mind that Oliver Stone has been criticized before for his views o US foreign policy, so the documentary may have some of his bias. Still, it helped me understand better the historical context of what's at stake in Ukraine, Putin's motivations, and what role Western countries played over the last few decades. [1] [this video]
Documentary giving historical context for Ukraine, with bias caveat.

Isn't depopulating a strong buzzword? I guess in a different context covid19 could be used in the same way; all the drama in censorship of alternative therapeutics than shilling for big pharma.. Whataboutism aside, I watched an interesting recap [1] of Ukraine's history. Not sure if it's factually and objectively legitimate though. [1] Ukraine on Fire -- [this video]
Interesting recap of Ukraine's history, unsure of accuracy.

Parent made a valid point. Why are you on about rabid dog analogies? Please don't urge more aggressive economic measures until you can explain why the existing ones haven't worked at all. [0] It's grimly amusing that you think the thing that happened in 2014 was that Russia started a war. [1] [0] [link] [1] [this video]

Thank you for providing a source. Although, the claims of censorship here appear hollow per checking currently - - It's available on youtube at [this video] and was posted in April 2021 - It's searchable on Amazon currently despite being blocked in March of this year per the archived result in the article: [link] This feels out of date; the movie is not being censored now. It was blocked by private companies likely as a quick response to the beginning of the war, and has since been made accessible again.
Shows film is available on YouTube, rebutting censorship claim.
